The Six String Singer-Songwriter Competition
A competition celebrating original music from solo artists and singer-songwriters of any genre. From indie folk and country to pop, rock and soul, performers will compete in front of judges and a live audience that help choose the winner.
Calling All Singer-Songwriters
We’re looking for original artists ready to take the stage with their own songs, their own voice and something to say.
Whether you write heartfelt acoustic ballads, country anthems, indie, folk, pop, rock, soul or something completely your own, this stage is for you.
Competition Format
The competition will run across three heats and a Grand Final. Two performers from each heat will go through to the Grand Final.
Entries
- Solo artists only
- Must have some original music
- All genres welcome
- Open to all ages
Heats
- 3 heats plus Grand Final
- 4–6 artists per heat
- 7pm–10pm
- 2 from each heat go through
Performance
- 15–20 minute set
- Minimum 50% original songs
- Covers permitted
Judging
The winner will be chosen by a combination of judges and live audience votes.

- 50% judges
- 50% audience vote

Prizes
Prize details are still being finalised, with a major prize package planned for the winning artist.
Heat prizes may include Six String gift cards and a Harper Music pack. Final prize details will be confirmed.

Before You Enter
Applicants will be asked to confirm key entry requirements, including copyright declaration, original works declaration, performance release and photo/video release.
Terms and conditions, behaviour expectations and any age-related requirements will be confirmed before the competition begins.
